The registers state the licences granted by de Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) on the grounds of the BES Financial Markets Act (‘Wfm BES’). In general, financial undertakings must hold a licence from DNB to operate in the Caribbean Netherlands.
Insurers with a registered seat outside Caribbean Netherlands may, under certain circumstances and after notifying DNB, perform services in Caribbean Netherlands from an establishment abroad (see Section 2.23 Wfm BES). These ‘notified’ insurers are also entered in the registers.
The registers are drawn up on the grounds of Sections 2:19 and 2:20 of the Wfm BES and Sections 2:12 to 2:14 of the BES Financial Markets Decree (‘Bfm BES’).
